What to Expect

We travel to Georgia because we have real connections there. Our trips are built around people we know — families, winemakers, cooks, musicians. We stay in homes, eat at long tables, spend time rather than passing through.

There are mountain roads and wide valleys, but most of what we do happens around kitchens, workshops and vineyards. Bread baked by hand. Wine drawn from clay qvevri. Evenings that stretch without a schedule.

We don’t try to show you all of Georgia. We focus on the places and communities we trust, and return to.

If you come with us, you are not following a tour. You are stepping into something already lived-in.

Its history and role in the silk route is evident everywhere in this beautiful old city. We will visit the National Museum of Georgia with is extensive collection of gold treasures before retiring to one of the cosy restaurants off the cobblestone streets where we will end the day with a delicious Georgian feast of dinner and local organic wine.

  • We visit Kakheti, the famous wine region of Georgia, we will sample some best examples of green wine and learn about ancient technique of making wine in Qvevries from local wine makers, that has been recognised by Unesco. After traditional Georgian feast called Supra we will return to Tbilisi for one more night.

  • Relax and enjoy the changing landscapes as we travel by day train to Batumi. On arrival in Batumis we will have lunch at one of the seaside restaurants before making our way to the village of Adjarian by private bus. In Adjarian you will stay in a traditional and local family run guesthouse. In the evening there’s the chance to join in a cooking workshop and learn how to prepare an Adjaran dish called green lobiani. This is a truly wonderful stop on the tour with a warm welcoming party in the evening complete with Georgian singing.

  • A very special day as you travel up to the remote village of Tago by cable car. As you can imagine this village has the most breathtaking views and is well worth the ride! Here we get to feast courtesy of a local family and leisurely explore this gorgeous the village before returning to our guesthouse in Adjarian for the night.

  • Pack your walking boots for a mountain walk through the ancient forest to mountain pastures, where we will meet local families, who will show us how to prepare suluguni cheese. We’ll also visit a spectacular waterfall before returning to our guesthouse for a final farewell Georgian party complete with feast, local music and dance!

  • We will say goodbye to our hosts and head for Batumi, stopping on the way near the awe-inspiring 12th century stone bridge named by King Tamara. We visit a local citrus farm and have a lunch there and arrive back to the seaside city of Batumi early afternoon. That evening we dine together in one of the local restaurants in Batumi.

  • A chance to explore Batumi Market, which is full of local Georgian delicacies, fresh produce, spices and pickles. At the fish market we will get to choose lunch from the catch of the day and watch it cooked fresh before us on an open fire.

In the afternoon there’s a chance to further explore this lovely city with the services of a local guide. In the evening we will take you to one of Batumi’s lovely restaurants for a delicious dinner.

  • On the final day we visit the Batumi Botanical Gardens – a place of pure beauty and tranquility where you can walk and think about everything that we have seen and experienced this week. We will have lunch and say our goodbyes.
