Tucked between Romania and Ukraine, Moldova is one of the least-visited countries in Europe — and one of its best-kept secrets. Village life here still moves to older rhythms: home winemaking in every courtyard, embroidery passed between generations, and a hospitality that stops you in your tracks.

Nataliya has just returned from travelling across the country with food writer Olia Hercules to build these journeys — walking its villages, meeting its makers and cooks, and finding the people who will host us. Two tours will run in 2027: a summer journey led with Olia, and an autumn cultural tour. Both will be small, unhurried, and shaped entirely around the people we visit.

THE JOURNEY

Full itineraries are taking shape now. On the July journey, Olia Hercules brings her deep knowledge of the region's food — expect market mornings, family wine cellars, and cooking with the people whose recipes it is. The October cultural tour follows the harvest season: embroiderers, weavers, winemakers, and the villages at their most generous.

Moldova's cellars hold some of the oldest winemaking traditions in Europe, its villages some of the warmest tables. These are journeys for people who like to be somewhere before everyone else discovers it.
